I am referred back to the book, Critical Thinking Skills around how arguments are stated by considering questions to test their position. Looking for intentionality to persuade due to vested interest is essential. I would say that most views would have some form of biased in terms of political, cultural or ideological perspectives. I think looking for potential biases related to the author’s background, affiliations, funding sources, or underlying beliefs is necessary. I have also gathered that biases can be embedded in the choice of words, tone, and presentation of information. Credibility and validity are significant.
Exercise 4.1: Testing for robustness
I can understand that people with a Humanistic view would differ from my argument , but that one would find commonalities in the Feminist and or Psychoanalysis theories and ideas of phenomenology and anthropology.
The draft plan with a timeline towards completion, key texts and works I wish to read/view and any research I plan to undertake should be included here.
I would like to continue with this after my tutorial with my tutor and start working on the first draft to be shared by the middle of September 2023.
I will continue to look at my key text and revise on recommendations from my tutor.

- This is a drawing with charcoal, and it finds kinship with the nests made with grass.
- The grass had to be collected in nature and was then woven and knotted into a structure which reminds me of a nest.
- In both works, the hand of the maker is seen – different materials in the nest show a form of assemblage of materials.
- Both pieces are small in size and carry a sense of fragility.
- I have made bigger works, and the work will relate to it in form and can become part of a series.
- This work is about nature, but it can also become a symbolic place for care.
- It was slow in making as the drawing lines were drawn, then erased, and new marks were made.
- The nest asked for skill to keep the form and work with different lengths and thicknesses.
- The material qualities of both works will change over time – I sprayed fixative over the drawing, and the green grass will dry, and I do not know the outcome of the solidity of the work.
- I have not thought about titling but I would like to see it as part of a series with a title.
I want to continue with the nest-making and upscale into work that would be presented outside.
