Exercise 2.1: Online search

I use the bookmark icon on my computer to save any website. For my studies, I use the Zotero App. I am familiar with the OCA library and have used Harvard -referencing throughout my studies.

Exercise 2.2: Searching the Library

I mostly use the OCA online library – I am too far from a local library, especially for academic journals or art-related reference materials.

Exercise 2.3: Physical search

I use Zotero to record my search engine addresses and or quotes I want to use.. I am registered with JSTOR.org, Academia, edu, Google Scholar, as well as Research Gate and find these sites trustworthy.

I have access to SCRIBD for reading books and articles. I also use podcasts.

Exercise 2.4: Skim-read initial key texts/resources

I find that using video in the same way is opening up my mind to other visual research methods. In a recent search I found a video presentation on practice based methodology for art practitioners (www.rmit.libguides.com/creativepracticeresearch) which I will be able to use extensively. The focus is on creative practice based research. Here I found a great definition: “practice based research is research where the “creative artefact is the basis of the contribution to knowledge’, whereas in practice lead research the contribution of the research “leads primarily to new understandings about practice.” (PRAGUK nd)
